Privacy policy

Last updated 29 October 2026. This policy explains what Egold ("we") collects when you use Egold CBT and this website, and is written with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 in mind.

School data in Egold CBT

Schools use Egold CBT to run exams. When a school uses the online service, we store the information the school and its users enter: names, email addresses, class, admission numbers, questions, answers, scores and exam activity (such as tab switches during an exam). The school controls this data; we process it on the school's behalf to provide the service.

• Passwords are stored only as secure one-way hashes.
• Each school's data is kept separate and is visible only to that school's users, according to their role.
• We don't sell data or use student data for advertising.
• A school administrator can delete users. To delete a whole school's data, contact us.

With the self-hosted version, school data stays on the school's own computer. We receive only what the licence check needs: the licence key, a server ID, the school name, the server's address and the software version.

Optional AI features

If a teacher uses AI to generate questions, read a photo of a paper or suggest a mark, the relevant text or image is sent to Google's Gemini service to produce the result.

Website analytics

We count visits to this website with our own analytics, which uses no cookies and stores no IP addresses. Each visit is counted with an anonymous code that changes every day, so we can't recognise you across days. We record the page, the referring website, campaign tags in the link, and your device type and browser. If your browser sends "Do Not Track" or "Global Privacy Control", we don't count you at all.

Contact form

When you contact us, we keep your name, email, phone, school and message so we can reply, along with your IP address to protect against abuse.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete it. Students and staff should usually ask their school first, as the school controls exam data. Email us at support@egoldcbt.com.
