Questions schools ask

What happens if the light goes off during an exam?
Every answer is saved on the server the moment a student picks it. When power returns, the student signs in again and continues where they stopped. The invigilator can add time or reopen the attempt from the Live Monitor.
Do we need internet to write exams?
Not with the self-hosted version: one school computer acts as the server and students connect over the school network. The online version needs internet, but it tolerates weak connections — answers wait on the student's computer and upload when the network comes back.
Is it really free?
Yes. Any school can register and use Egold CBT online for free. A paid licence is only needed if you want to run it on your own offline server.
How do you stop cheating?
Each student can get the questions and options in a different order. Leaving the exam screen, switching tabs, copying or pasting and exiting full screen are recorded and shown to the invigilator live. Answer keys never reach the student's computer.
Can we use our existing past questions?
Yes. Upload a Word document and Egold CBT splits it into questions with their options and answers, or keeps a theory paper exactly as typed. You can also import a spreadsheet, type questions in, or generate them with AI.
How are theory and essay answers marked?
Objective questions are marked instantly. Theory answers go to the teacher's Grading screen, where AI can suggest a mark and feedback. The student's result updates once marking is done.
Which classes and subjects does it support?
Primary 1 to SS 3 and any subject. Questions can include comprehension passages, tables, diagrams, chemical formulas and maths notation (superscripts and subscripts).
What do students need?
Any computer, laptop or tablet with an up-to-date browser such as Chrome or Edge. Nothing to install on student machines.
